I decided to do this post when someone came to me recently asking for a poem or a quote in memory of a loved one. They wanted one that would convey the depth of emotion, the love, their sorrow and their hope. It’s hard to think straight in times such as loss, but it is important to express that emotion, it is healthy and allows us to move on, but not forget our loved one. A loving memory poem, is about love and memories, not about carrying pain and hurt.
Here are a few of the poems and quotes I discovered.
In loving Memory
“Remember loved ones never leave
They are forever near
For their love lives on in memories
Our hearts hold dear”
I like this in loving memory poem, it expresses what is being felt, it shows and express emotions, but it also shows an understanding of loss, a positive message for the future.
Someone Is Missing
“Let this Angel be a loving reminder
that someone is missing today,
Someone our hearts still hold on to,
As we travel along life’s way.
Someone who made life so special,
for all those who gather here,
Someone who won’t be forgotten,
But cherished from year to year.
And now as we pause to remember,
Let us all fondly recall,
how dearly each of us loved him,
and oh… how he loved us all!”
“Gone yet not forgotten,
Though we are now apart,
Your spirits lives within us,
Forever in our hearts”
This loving memory poem is quite suitable for use on special occasions. At times like this, loses are more keenly felt, as we want our loved ones to share in special occasions.
I have included a few quotes and lines that can be used on a flowers card, a memorial card, an “in loving memory” plaque, or a memorial tree.
“In the night of death, hope sees a star,
and listening love can hear the rustle of a wing.”
“To live in hearts we leave behind
Is not to die.”
“When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.”
Take care of your loving memories, cherish the good times, acknowledge that is in memory, know that they are proud of you and wish you the best.

I’m Not Gone
Don’t cry for me,
now that I am free.
Just look around anywhere,
and that is where I’ll be.
For I am the daylight,
when the sun starts to rise.
I’m the bright rainbow,
you see with your eyes.
I’m the tiny raindrops,
that sprinkle in the wind.
I’ll always be here with you,
for there really is no end.
I’m the dew that’s on the ground,
and the quietness all around.
Yes, I am so very happy,
with this new life I have found.
I’m the peaceful summer breeze,
that flows softly through the trees.
I’m the bluebird in the sky,
that sings with such ease.
Yes, I am so very happy,
so happy to be free.
Understand my family and friends
and don’t you cry for me.

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me and if you want to, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect,
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was;
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you,
For an interval,
Somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.
Henry Scott Holland
